ALPHAS - LOS ANGELES TIMES HERO COMPLEX: ‘Alphas’ finale: Ryan Cartwight says, ‘It’s a crazy one’

Sept. 25, 2011
by Geoff Boucher

The first season finale of “Alphas” airs Monday and the SyFy series has carved out its own personality after starting with a concept that sat somewhere between “The X-Files” and “X-Men.” The characters are a collection of oddballs and outsider souls and at the top of that list is Gary Bell, the autistic young man who can “see” energy and communication signals in the air, making him a walking antenna and the world’s supreme electronic eavesdropper. Ryan Cartwright, a familiar face to fans of “Bones,” plays Gary, and Hero Complex’s Geoff Boucher caught up with the 30-year-old Brit to talk about the show. This is Part 2 of the interview...

Sin

... GB: The season finale is Monday night. Is there an intriguing tidbit you can share without undermining any of the big surprises?

RC: "It’s action-packed. My ears are still ringing from listening to bullets and rifles all day. There’s a lot of smoke. I think there’s some grenades. A good number of explosions. There’s a massive man — a guy who is an ex-wrestler, he’s a huge man. So there’s a huge man in it. The huge man grabs me. It’s a super-fun one and it’s a crazy one. The fit hits the shan. And then it goes off the wall..."

SUPERNATURAL - COLLIDER: Misha Collins Interview

by Christina Radish
September 23rd, 2011

At the end of Season 6, on The CW drama Supernatural, fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins) made a deal with the King of Hell to find the door to Purgatory and open it. In return, and against the warnings of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), he now harnesses the power of all monster souls after absorbing them, making him God-like. With no idea of how to stop Castiel, Season 7 finds everyone’s favorite demon hunters reeling from the loss of their friend, as they realize they are about to face an enemy more shrewd and adaptable than any they’ve ever fought.

During a recent interview, actor Misha Collins talked about the evolution of Castiel over the seasons, how being God is not all it’s cracked up to be, that he first learned Castiel was heading down this road at the end of Season 5, and how much he’s enjoyed working with co-star Mark Sheppard...

Photobucket

... Q: Are you surprised with how things have turned out, over the period of time you’ve played Castiel?

COLLINS: "Yeah, it was just supposed to be a few episodes, originally. Actually, when I auditioned for it, I thought it was one episode. Then, it turned out it was three. And then, it was six. And then, it was 12. It kept evolving. Yes, of course, it’s always a surprise when they decide to keep you longer. Jared [Padalecki] and Jensen [Ackles], who play Sam and Dean, are up in Vancouver, largely isolated from their friends and family. I went up there to shoot a couple episodes, and they really liked me. It was like they had a friend up there, and they absolutely insisted that I be kept on, so the writers totally retooled the show, just so that Jared and Jensen would have a friend because Canadians hate them, as a rule. No..."

BEDLAM - BBC AMERICA VIDEO FEATURETTE: Preview - Premieres Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10/9C

Watch a special preview of Bedlam, BBC America's new addition to Supernatural Saturday, that dares to imagine Melrose Place... if it were haunted! Premiering immediately after the season finale of Doctor Who, *** Saturday October 1 at 10/9c *** only on BBC America.

Bedlam is a ghostly series set around Bedlam Heights -- a hip, newly renovated apartment building. Those who live there think they have the best address in the world, but little do they know their new home has a harrowing past.

The conversion of Bedlam Heights from a former insane asylum has awakened the ghosts of its dark and violent past. These spirits wish to reclaim what's theirs and seek revenge on those who have wronged them.

Kate (Charlotte Salt, The Tudors), a direct descendant of the people who ran the former asylum for generations, lives and works in Bedlam Heights. Her father, Warren (Hugo Speer, Skins), still owns the old family property, and Kate is helping him fill the remaining vacant apartments. She shares her apartment with roommates Ryan (Will Young, Skins) and Molly (Ashley Madekwe, Secret Diary of a Call Girl), but only with the unexpected arrival of Kate's adopted cousin, Jed (Theo James, Downton Abbey) -- a troubled man with a history of mental illness who sees ghosts and visions of the past -- are they able to uncover the terrifying secrets of Bedlam Heights. The hauntings that follow prove that sometimes when you scratch away the surface, things aren't always what they seem.

Don't miss BEDLAM, part of BBC America's Supernatural Saturday line-up, *** premiering immediately following the Doctor Who season finale on Saturday October 1 at 10/9c *** -- before moving to its regular timeslot, Saturdays at 9/8c starting October 8.
