... THR: What’s coming up during Season 4 of Sanctuary?

Tapping: "We painted ourselves in an impossible-to-get-out-of corner at the end of Season 3 and we start in a time and place that is very special to my character [Dr. Helen Magnus], but is rich with history and stories. I directed the second episode and Robin Dunne directed the sixth episode. We do an episode on a tropical island. We do an episode on an ice breaker on the Behring Sea. The Victorian era episode, it was raining inside the studio. You’ll see a great directing turn from Robin Dunne."

THR: Who can viewers expect to see in the upcoming season?

Tapping: "The guest stars that the fans have really loved and embraced are all back this year. Carlo Rotta is in an episode called “Monsoon” and he’s laugh out loud funny. Brian Markinson, who has been in everything from Woody Allen films to Angels in America, he did our third episode and we’re having him come back because we loved him so much..."

The fourth season of Sanctuary premieres this fall.

Falling Skies

FALLING SKIES - ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Colin Cunningham talks about breakout turn as biker/baker baddie John Pope

July 11, 2011
by Jeff Jensen

There are many reasons to watch Falling Skies, TNT’s absorbing summertime sci-fi hit about ordinary folk-turned-warriors surviving – and rebelling against — a devastating alien invasion. Tops on the list: Noah Wylie’s strong central performance and the creepy mystery of the gooey harnesses making docile drones out of captive kids. (Spoiler Alert for anyone who hasn’t yet seen Sunday’s episode: How creepy was that alien-hosted slumber party with Ben and the other harness kids? Didn’t that hair-stroking beastie strike you as nurturing, even parental?) Alas, one of the most enjoyable elements of Falling Skies was (temporarily) MIA last night: Colin Cunningham’s charismatic John Pope, a tack-sharp, politically incorrect, dangerously amoral biker rogue skilled at killing Skitters and quoting literature. And the self-styled “culinary artist” – a bigoted foodie who blanches as paprika-seasoned chicken – can bake some seriously mean bread, too. John Pope — part heartless Road Warrior, part Gordon Ramsay gone totally psycho!

Cunningham’s riveting scenes with Wylie in the second hour of the show’s premiere outing helped distinguish Falling Skies as a drama as much about its complex characters as its explosions and ETs. The actor – whose previous credits include Stargate SG-1 – recently spoke with EW.com about landing the role that has made him a breakout star of the summer TV season and gave a little tease about the season 1 trajectory of the Second Massachusetts’ “reluctant ally...”

Colin Cunningham (right) from Falling Skies

... Q: How do you play the charisma of the character? Because he has a ton of intense, attractive attitude.

Colin Cunningham: "Well, it’s there on the page. But it was something I generated for the audition. I knew they were having some trouble casting the part, and I just knew – or at least I could imagine – that a lot of other actors would just come in and read this stuff pretty straight. I was like: No! This guy is theatrical. This guy is part Shakespeare’s Puck and part Hannibal Lecter. So I saw him being very animated, very theatrical. A lot of the choices I was making in early episodes, I was just hoping they wouldn’t come back to bite me on the ass, because I did feel I was taking some chances, and was given the latitude to do so. And under the tutelage of our director Greg Beeman and support of an actor like Noah Wylie, we just went for it..."

EUREKA - BLASTR: Why Eureka's return will have you going 'Really?'

By Kathie Huddleston
Jul 11, 2011

The gang from Eureka have found themselves in a lot of sticky situations over the years, but when the series returns to Syfy with season 4.5 tonight, they'll head into uncharted territory in more ways than one, according to creator and executive producer Jaime Paglia and stars Colin Ferguson and Salli Richardson-Whitfield...

Photobucket

... "The big arc of the season is the Astraeus Project. Basically Eureka is going into space," said Ferguson, who plays Sheriff Jack Carter. "And I was concerned when we started it that it was going to be just a path like, 'Oh, this is the mission du jour that we're going to on for 13.' But it actually balloons and blossoms into this fantastically complex plot."

According to Ferguson, by "the end of the season you're about see, it kicks into the whole next year in a way that you completely don't expect. So, what I'm really looking forward to seeing is everyone next summer going, 'Oh, my God. Really? We're ... That's happening now?' Because it's sort of Eureka going into space, and do they go into space, and it's really interesting..."

EUREKA - SHOW PATROL: Niall Matter Interview

By Curt Wagner
July 10, 2011

Niall Matter found the perfect role when he joined the cast of "Eureka."

"I'm not unlike Zane in a lot of ways," said Matter, speaking of Zane Donovan, the snarky, bad-boy physicist he's played since the second season of the Syfy series about a town of genius inventors and scientists.

Matter isn't a physicist, but he knows computers well enough to have recently fixed co-star Neil Grayston's. His eight years working on Canadian oil rigs when he was younger prepared him for the action-hero-worthy stunts he gets to do as Zane. And, he admits, he still has "that little flair of a troublemaker" that led his parents to send him away when he was in high school...

[NOTE FROM CURT: I’ve removed big chunks of the interview for spoiler reasons. Check back each week for Matter’s take on the first three episodes.]

Niall Matter

... Show Patrol: I’ve seen “Liftoff” and I love all the great comedy you and Neil Grayston get to do. It’s almost two episodes.

Niall Matter: "Yeah, that’s the thing. It really is like two episodes because you have what’s happening on the ground and then you have what’s happening up in space. And all of the CGI up in space? Could you believe that? It was amazing, phenomenal. It looked incredible. You do get a really different feel whenever you’re up in the capsule with us … I was really impressed with how that episode turned out..."

WAREHOUSE 13 - DAEMON'S TV: Eddie McClintock Takes on Pete/Myka Romance, Crazy Hair and Great White Sharks

July 11, 2011
by Eric

Warehouse 13 returns tonight for a third season and fans like myself are nothing but excited.

If you are itching to know what to expect about the new season, you are in luck as Daemon’s TV was honored to talk with the always funny and charming Eddie McClintock who plays Pete Lattimer, the witty Secret Service Agent whose superior gut instinct has gotten him out of a lot of jams.

During the interview, Eddie opened up about the joy and challenges of being on a successful series, the great guest stars you can expect to see this season and also about his burgeoning artistic endeavors. Don’t forget to tune in tonight at 9-10 p.m. ET on Syfy for the Warehouse 13 premiere episodeThe New Guy“...

Photobucket

... Q: If you could travel back in time and meet your former self at the beginning of ‘Warehouse 13′ what would you tell yourself?

Eddie McClintock: "I would tell myself not to change my hairstyle in season three."

Q: Why do you mean?

Eddie McClintock: "Well, I have hair issues, man. When I did ‘Bones‘ the hair person at ‘Bones‘, or well, the producers didn’t want me to look like [David] Boreanaz because I all ready kind of look like Boreanaz. So, they wanted to make sure that I didn’t look as much like Boreanaz as I could. They wanted me to be as far away from the way that he looks as possible, and so they had the hairstylist cut my hair and do my hair.

You would be shocked at how many people rag on me on Twitter on Facebook about my hair during my run on ‘Bones’. It’s always like, ‘Oh, Eddie McClintock on “Bones”, he does a great job, but what’s up with the hair.’ I’m so paranoid about my hair. So, this year, at the beginning of the season I was like, ‘I want to change it up and do something different.’ So, the first episode or two I have my hair kind of down and to the side, and then once I saw it I didn’t like it. So, I went back to the way that it was the first two seasons. So, hopefully, people will go, ‘Oh, look at Pete. He’s said that Myka is gone. So he hasn’t been putting product in his hair,’ and then once she comes back my hair reverts. So, that’s what I’m going with...

9-10 PM TNT, SEASON PREMIERE

Last year Kyra Sedgwick earned an Emmy for her firecracker performance as Brenda Leigh Johnson, the indefatigable, near-unbeatable LAPD investigator whose smarts, intensity, and Southern-fried sass are the bane of both the bad guys she puts away and the good guys she works with. The season 8 premiere kicks off the star's swan-song year — and an epic setup for a potential spin-off about Mary McDonnell's equally no-nonsense internal-affairs cop, Captain Raydor. The story has Brenda and her Major Crimes team (who together form one of TV's most entertaining ensembles) investigating the murder of an up-and-coming rapper and his (alleged) drug-dealing pals. It's not top-notch Closer; everyone and everything feels a smidge tired. Yet however grating the premiere may be, the series remains undeniably winning — just like Brenda herself.

THE CLOSER - DAEMON'S TV: Corey Reynolds Talks About Sgt. Gabriel’s Morality, The Closer Spinoff & Being Awesome

July 11, 2011
by Eric

THE CLOSER, my all time favorite crime drama is back for a seventh and final season which makes this a bitter sweet reunion.

As a consolation prize, Daemon’s TV was extremely fortunate to have a chat with series star Corey Reynolds who plays Sgt. David Gabriel, the young moral detective who also happens to be Deputy Police Chief Brenda Johnson’s right-hand man. Corey shared a lot about this upcoming season, the morality of his character and which episode resonated with him the most.

Check out our chat below and don’t forget to tune in to watch the The Closer premiere “Unknown Trouble” which airs tonight Monday July 11 at at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on TNT...

Photobucket

... Q: What can we expect from this seventh and final season, and more specifically, from your character?

Corey Reynolds: "Well, this season’s theme is love and loss which is apropos. We see a few different things from my character. One of the through lines for the season is a case regarding a gang-banger from last year named Terrell Baylor who as part of the decision that led to us releasing him led to his death. That’s something that’s carrying over. We’re all being investigated because of it. That’s one thing that’s going to carry through the entire season, and the whole squad is involved, but my character, Raymond Cruz’s character, Sanchez, and Brenda were the three officers that were in the car. It kind of divides us because I think there was some discrepancy within the characters as to how we should’ve handled that situation."

Q: I do remember that episode. I was puzzled about that scene as well.

Corey Reynolds: "Yeah, and that’s actually coming back this season in a big way. It creates quite a challenge for the squad to continue to function as a group the way that we have as we are all in the midst of some chaos caused by Chief Johnson at least according Terrell Baylor’s lawyer.

So, we’re all kind of looking at her tactics in different ways. My character has learned a lot from her in the sense that I think in the beginning he was very black and white as far as his take on things. What she introduced to him was the lovely land of grey. Unfortunately in this instance it comes back and creates some problems for us and that’s going to be a major storyline through the run of the season...

ALPHAS - DAEMON'S TV: Warren Christie Talks Stunts, Cast Chemistry and Zombies

July 11, 2011
by Eric

After talking to the lovely Azita Ghanizada about Alphas, Daemon’s TV was delightfully surprised to also get the chance to talk to Warren Christie, the resident “hyperkinetic” on the Alphas team who could realistically harpoon a fly with a toothpick thanks to his extreme ability at controlling his body movements.

Warren had a lot to say about what folks can expect from the premiere episode (which our writer Dynamaria loved in her review “ALPHAS “Pilot” Advance Review“), what kind of stunts come with the character ability and how much he wants to be a zombie ... but a nice one though.

Check out what he had to share below and don’t forget to tune to watch the pilot episode of Alphas tonight Monday, July 11 at 10/9c...

Photobucket

... Q: Cameron’s is hyperkinetic which involves perfect balance and enhanced motor skills. Does that mean you get to do a lot of stunts since your character does a lot of that?

Warren Christie: "I do, yeah, and that’s another thing that attracted me to the role. First and foremost it was the character and the depth of what he had going on and the excitement of the script and then there was a physical element to the stunts and whatnot. I hadn’t really done too much of that. A little bit, but not too much of that before, and that really attracted me to it. I thought that it would be a lot of fun.

It’s not just the fact that there’s these stunts, a lot of running and different things like that, but it’s the nature of what happens and the beauty of it is that because Cameron when he first comes into the group doesn’t really understand his abilities or know what it is or even recognize it. Because of that each week as he works with Dr. Rosen, it’s growing and it’s enhancing and he’s learning how to control it, but it’s also spreading off into other different areas and he’s really trying to learn how to control it. So that means each week that he can do a little bit more and can help a little bit more and exciting and fun. So, it’s been a lot of fun for that side of it...

TORCHWOOD: MIRACLE DAY - FRESNO BEE: Eve Myles Interview

Sunday, Jul. 10, 2011
By Rick Bentley

While waiting to do an interview for the Starz network series "Camelot," I bump into Eve Myles. We chat about her new Starz series, "Torchwood: Miracle Day" and the possibilities of her and her family visiting Yosemite National Park while she's living in Los Angeles.

The Welsh actress, who has temporarily moved to the United States to film the cable series, loves camping. The national park would be a great way to get away from work.

Myles is a rather petite woman, but after only a few moments chatting it's clear she could act tougher than she looks if a problem came up in the wild. She's already faced down one California critter.

"I had a little meeting with a coyote on the hills. It looked at my dog like it was a hamburger. And I thought there's one way out. I turned into Gwen Cooper," Myles says.

For those of you not familiar with the BBC series 'Torchwood," Cooper's the character Myles played, an investigator of the odd and unusual with which you don't want to mess.

But fact and fiction are very different.

"The thing I picked up was a bamboo shoot. So I could have tickled it or something. I don't know," she says. "And, yeah, the coyote won. So I turned around, and I ran off the mountain."

She did show a little bit of Cooper when she threw an orange at the beast.

WAREHOUSE 13 - AM NEW YORK: Saul Rubinek dishes on the new season

7/10/11
By Scott A. Rosenberg

Any tried-and-true "Indiana Jones" fan would love a chance to go digging through the warehouse at the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Thankfully, we have the Syfy Channel series "Warehouse 13" - which has its own unique artifact depository - to help satisfy that desire. The show, beginning its third season Monday night, mixes the procedural and fantasy adventure genres in following a covert organization that gathers and protects the population from mysterious and potential deadly artifacts.

amNY spoke with Saul Rubinek, 63, who plays the eccentric Artie Nielson, the man in charge of the warehouse...

Photobucket

... Q: What does the third season bring for the show?

Saul Rubinek: "It's an interesting place to get. First season, you're in the dark, you don't know what's going on. Then, in the second season, we already knew the series was a hit, which is an amazing place to be. And we wanted to keep the fans happy, and one of the ways to do that is to keep surprising them. Third season, [we] wanted to go deep. The great thing is that the show is built on quite an intricate and well-thought-out historical mythology. We know our fans are as fascinated as the writers are with that history..."

EUREKA | WAREHOUSE 13 | ALPHAS: TV WASTELAND: Syfy’s Alphas Bet

By Rob Vaux
July 10, 2011

Syfy has chosen this week to unleash its tsunami of summer shows: Warehouse 13, Eureka, and Haven all return with new seasons ... and the rookie Alphas tagging along for the ride. Frankly speaking, it looks like a dud. Its concept is borrowed from Heroes, The Cape and about a dozen other failed superhero shows, as a band of people with extraordinary abilities try to save the world from those who would enslave it. Or something. At this stage, television is suffering from serious comic book fatigue, and while Alphas boasts the stalwart David Strathairn as the team’s mentor/leader, that’s not nearly enough to lend it any sense of freshness or originality.

Syfy seemingly agrees by stacking the deck in the show’s favor. It opens Monday night at 10:00, with Eureka and Warehouse 13 serving as lead-ins. Will the ploy work? Hard to say. On the one hand, it will presumably leave a loyal audience based ready to keep watching. On the other hand, its late run time means that folks may head to bed if they don’t like what they see ... or worse, use their DVRs to watch the lead-ins whenever they damn well please. Still, Syfy has created unlikely hits from worse material (see Haven, premiering this Friday night), and Alphas may benefit from whatever tangential Midas touch they can produce. You can see for yourself this Monday ... and if you don’t like it, there’s plenty of other options. Let’s have a look at them [at the link above].

A killer is on a vendetta-fuelled rampage against those who wrongly imprisoned him, including a cop who had almost nothing to do with it: Aurelio Zen.
