Send questions to askmatt@tvguidemagazine.com and follow on Twitter!

... Question: Your weekend fantasy show list missed the return of Sanctuary on Syfy. Warehouse 13, Eureka, Haven and Sanctuary all have intelligent tongue-in-cheek humor & sly (OK — sometimes not so sly) references to fantasy history and situations. The Eureka season 1 moment where the missile is coming up through the street & the sheriff just watches and says, "Oh, that can't be good" has to be a classic moment. This season it rebounded from an uneven stretch and I hope that the upswing will continue. I love Fringe and the other shows you review regularly, but please, some love for the "Syfy 4." — Mary Lu

Matt Roush: You're right, I was remiss in not including Sanctuary in that discussion of Friday night fantasy shows. But I don't really buy this idea of a "Syfy 4," because that would imply all of these shows are created equal. And for me, they're not. When Eureka and Warehouse 13 return this summer — both on July 11, along with the new series Alphas — I'll make critical note of it, because I enjoy both of these series as fanciful escapist larks, especially Eureka. I've tried to warm up to Sanctuary in past seasons to little avail, and admit in the glut of this spring's extremely busy midseason (including a little distraction called Game of Thrones), it got away from me this time. And Haven I did not like at all — although I'll sample it again when it returns this summer, but unless they've changed the entire cast and writing staff, I don't have high hopes of embracing that one. In all genres including fantasy, there's good, bad and indifferent — and excellent (hello, Fringe) — and that applies to Syfy's product as well.

(Thursday, 9/8c, Fox)

Why are Booth and Bones in Florida this week? Welcome to the time-honored TV tradition of the "backdoor pilot." This week's case involves the murder of an Everglades maritime museum guard amid an attempt to steal a 17th century treasure map. They enlist the help of Booth's Iraq War comrade Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), a well-renowned "finder" — sounds like a series title to me — with "an uncanny gift to unearth anyone and anything." (There's your premise.) Sherman even has an entourage including a co-worker (Saffron Burrows) and legal advisor (Michael Clarke Duncan). All they need now is a series pick-up.

Varro has the hots for TJ. And it seems the feeling is mutual. Col. Young is not too happy about it. Can Varro be trusted? He is Lucian Alliance after all. Though he's been quite helpful aboard Destiny. He helped defuse that bomb in Homeworld Command. And he sacrificed the last of his Lucian Alliance crewmates to help track down a missing TJ. Now he's a free man... let's see what happens.

Now you can find out a little about the tough guy in the leather pants. Meet Mike Dopud:

1. I speak 3 languages. (English, Serbian and French) How well I speak them.....is debatable.

2. I have a B.S. in Physiology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

3. I won the Leland P. Lingle award at SIU (Award given to student who best combines Academics and Athletics).

4. I have been "beaten up" on screen by Jessica Alba, Lucy Liu and Kristen Kreuk, to name a few.

5. My right leg is shorter than my left leg.

6. My favorite movie growing up was "Mad Max". Probably the main reason I became an actor.

7. I won a Regional "Spelling Bee" Championship in the 4th grade.

8. According to my wife Angela, I grill a mean steak!

9. I love vacationing in the Carribean! (Barbados, Saint Martin)

10. During my life I have been hit by 3 cars as a pedestrian. All random accidents which I came away from relatively unscathed, but you should see the cars!
